The minimum wage in Edo State has been raised by Mr. Godwin Obaseki, the governor, from N40,000 to B70,000. At the launching of the brand-new, state-of-the-art Labour House (secretariat complex) for labor unions in Benin City on Monday, the governor made the statement.
As to his statement, the new minimum wage policy would take effect on May 1, 2024, which happens to be Workers’ Day this year. Up till today, Edo State has maintained a minimum wage of N40,000, which is N10,000 higher than the N30,000 national minimum wage. Governor Obaseki has raised the state minimum wage for the second time.
He increased the pay for the first time in 2021, from N30,000 to N40,000.
