Residents of the capital of Ogun State, Abeokuta, in the Ita-Oshin neighborhood were rocked by panic when a gas truck explosion left a path of destruction, killing four people and burning around six automobiles. It was discovered that the explosion happened after the gas tanker was involved in an accident while attempting to maneuver around the road guardrails. Further information revealed that in order to evacuate the victims’ bodies and contain the fire, emergency response teams—including members of the Federal Road Safety Corps and Ogun State Fire Service—quickly responded to the location.
Taxis, a private automobile, and a truck were among the vehicles destroyed by the fire, which also affected adjacent stores and homes. Witnesses, who spoke anonymously, claimed that some casualties had already been sent to the hospital by the reaction teams. However, security and safety officials at the scene have not yet released a detailed statement about the incident.
